P0700 is commonly a request from the transmission controller to illuminate the malfunction lamp. It is not the detailed fault. A scan tool that can communicate with the TCM is needed to retrieve the supporting transmission codes.
Do not ignore operating condition
Fluid level and condition, battery voltage, connector integrity, temperature and speed-sensor data can change shift behavior. Slipping, overheating or harsh engagement can justify limiting driving until the cause is confirmed.
